Progress of Azole Antifungal Agents

In recent years, some new azole antifungal agents have been developed, including oral and topical preparations, such as voriconazole, ravuconazole and posaconazole for oral use as well as sertaconazole, sulconazole and tioconazole for topical use. These new azoles present a broader antifungal spectrum and a more effective antifungal activity. They also have shown a good prospect in the preliminary clinical practice, especially the systemic antifungal agents. This review summarizes the current advance in clinical use of new azoles.
