Aerodynamic Roughness of Vegetation Coverage Surface and its Influence on Soil Erosion by the Wind Tunnel

Abstract

Surface roughness is an important feature that affects vegetation coverage soil against wind erosion. By means of the movable wind tunnel, the tests of the original position have been carried out. Aerodynamic roughness calculated by wind profile can be used to depict aerodynamic properties of farm surface effectively. Wind tunnel tests indicate that the more vegetation coverage is the more aerodynamic roughness length. The amount of soil wind erosion decreases exponentially with vegetation coverage increasing.
