Dynamics of Ecological Footprint of Chongqing from 1997 to 2006

Ecological footprint is an important indicator to analyze the sustainable use of natural resources.In this study ,We got the data of resources production and consumption,population,and land use from CHONGQING STATISTICAL YEARBOOK.We calculated the ecological footprint of Chongqing during the period from 1997 to 2006 with the method of variable world average yield.The results are as follows:the ecological footprint has grown from 2.3540059hm2/cap to 2.9084383hm2/cap with the increase rate of 23.55 %.We find that the ecological deficit has been more and more serious, which is from 1.83733 hm2/cap in 1997 to 2.44216 hm2/cap in 2006 with the increasing rate of 32.92%,through comparing the ecological footprint with the decreasing biological capacity of the same period.And we have analyzed ecological footprint,ecological capacity and ecological deficit of Chongqing,the influencing factor specifically for ecological footprint and ecological capacity,the countermeasure bringing forward the problem resolving Chongqing ecological footprint deficit aggravating.
