Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe effects of lycopene on microinflammatory and oxidative stress in great age maintenance hemodialysis patients(MHD).METHODS 30 MHD patients were randomly divided into two groups: blank group(n=15) and treatment group(n=15).In treatment group, the patients were given lycopene,2# oral, twice a day for eight weeks.Their serum ferritin(SF),IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,TNF-α,MDA,GSH-Px,SOD,Alb and CRP were measured at pre-and post-treatment.RESULTS Compared with the pre-treatment,the levels of serum IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,TNF-α,MDA,GSH-Px,SOD,and CRP in both groups elevated markedly(P0.01 or 0.05).but the diference value of serum IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,TNF-α,CRP and SOD in treatment group was more than those in blank group(P0.05).CONCLUSION There are mircoinflammation and oxidative stress in great age MHD patients, which could be alleviated by lycopene.
