7Application of MEDPOR Surgical Implantation in Auricular Reconstruction

Abstract
Objective To explore a better operation for whole auricular reconstruction with the MEDPOR surgical implantation. Methods The MEDPOR surgical implantation was used to substitute for an auricular reconstruction. During and after operation, the changes from removal of fibrous capsule of expanded skin flap were observed clinically. Results 7 congenital microtia in 6 cases underwent whole auricular reconstruction with this method. All of them obtained wonderful effects without necrosis of the expanded skin. Postoperative follow-up for 6 months demonstrated ideal results. Conclusion This technique using MEDPOR surgical implantation as artificial framework covered with expanded skin flap for auricular reconstruction might be safe, easy and more suitable for children.
