Abstract
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture on temporal three - needle acupoints for post - stroke depression(PSD).Methods:Sixty mild - and middle-degree PSD patients were randomized into 2 groups:group A received electroacupuncture on temporal three - needle acupoints and oral use of fluoxetine hydrochloride capsules, and group B received oral use of fluoxetine hydrochloride capsules. The scores of Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and functional independence measure(FIM) were evaluated in both group before and after treatment. Results:After treatment,HRSD and SDS scores were decreased in both group, and the difference being significant in group A after treatment for 2 weeks and in group B after treatment for 3 weeks(P0.05).The differences of HRSD and SDS scores were significant between the two groups after treatment for 2 weeks(P0.05).After treatment for 4 weeks,FIM score was increased in both groups(P0.01 compared that before treatment),and the increase was obvious in group A(P0.01).Conclusion:Electroacupuncture on temporal three - needle acupoints combining with oral use of fluoxetine hydrochloride capsules can relieve the depression in post - stroke depression patients, and improve their activities of daily life.
