Effects of Dexmedetomidine on the Quality of Recovery in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Objective:To evaluate the effects of dexmedetomidine on the quality of recovery from general anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy.Methods:Sixty ASA Ⅰ-Ⅱ patients,aged 40-55yearrs,undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy,were randomly assigned into three groups(n=20each):control group(group C),dexmedetomidine 0.5μg/(kg·h)group(group D1),and dexmedetomidine 1.0μg/(kg·h)group(group D2).In groups D1and D2,10 min before anesthesia induction,dexmedetomidine 0.5μg/(kg·h)and 1.0μg/(kg·h)were infused for 10min respectively,while the equal volume of normal saline 20ml was given instead of dexmedetomidine in group C.General anesthesia was used in the three groups.Dezocine 5mg was injected intravenously immediately before pneumoperitoneum formed.The time for recovery of spontaneous breathing,extubation time,awakening time,and adverse reactions were recorded.Pain was assessed with verbal rating scale(VRS)at 5min after awakening from anesthesia.Results:Compared with group C,the incidence of agitation,coughing,and adverse cardiovascular events and VRS score were significantly decreased,and the rate of effective analgesia was significantly increased in groups D1and D2,and the awakening time and extubation time were significantly prolonged in group D2(P0.05).Compared with group D1,the awakening time and extubation time were significantly prolonged in group D2(P0.05).There was no significant difference in VRS score,the rate of effective analgesia and the incidence of adverse reactions between groups D1and D2(P0.05).Conclusion:The infusion of dexmedetomidine 0.5μg/(kg· h)before induction of general anesthesia can effectively improve the quality of recovery from general anesthesia in the patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy.
