Abstract

Objective To analyze death causes of inpatients from 2009 to 2013 in our hospital to master the main diseases leading to death in local residents in order to provide the basis for drafting preventive and health-care measures, hospital management, and scientific research. Methods The homepage data of medical record in patients discharged from hospital from 2009 to 2013 was collected, and the data was classified according to international classification of diseases(ICD-10),and the death causes were statistically analyzed. Results From 2009 to 2013,under the condition of increasing inpatient number year by year, fatality rate displayed a declining tendency(χ2=208.07,P0.01).The fatality rate in male was higher than that in female(χ2=53.24,P0.01).The top 5 main diseases leading to death were intracranial injury, cerebral hemorrhage, ischemic heart disease, pulmonary malignant tumor, and acute myocardial infarction. Conclusion Drafting long-term and strategic disease control measures, strengthening the study of disease prevention and treatment, propeling the continuous improvement and development of prevention and treatment in medical career to improve patient′s quality of life as well as prolong life-span and reduce fatality rate.
