Comparison of p53 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma of human and mouse

Abstract

Objective To compare p53 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma of human and mouse.Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of p53 gene in 8 cases of normal oral mucosa, 8 cases of oral dysplasia and 8 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) in human and mouse, respectively.Results In human normal oral mucosa, dysplasia, and OSCC, the positive p53 protein expression rates were 0.0%, 37.5 %, 62.5 %, respectively; while in mouse were 0.0%, 50.0%, 75.0%, respectively.Conclusion There is the similar expression of p53 protein between human and mouse in same pathological stages. The development of the oral squamous cell carcinoma of the human and mouse may be similar to each other.
