Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy of paroxetine and psychotherapy with depression and anxiety in colon cancer patients. Methods 200 patients who were scheduled for surgery were investigated by using Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD-24) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),153 patients which HAMD-24 scale over 20 and HAMA scale over 14,were randomly divided into four groups: control group, paroxetine group, psychotherapy group and combination therapy group. Results The comorbidity rate of depression and anxiety in colon caner patients were higher than non-tumor patients(P 0.05),the scale of HAMD-24 and HAMA in therapy group(paroxetine, psychotherapy and combination therapy) after treatment was lower than that of before(P 0.05),The scale of combination group was significantly lower than paroxetine group and psychotherapy group(P 0.05).Conclusion Psychotherapy combined with paroxetine can efficiently improve the depression and anxiety in colon cancer patients.
