Abstract
Berberine production wastewater was treated by Fenton oxidation process to observe the effects of initial pH,temperature, reaction time and the dosage of H2O2 and FeSO4 on CODCr and berberine removals via orthogonal experimentation. The key controlling factors during the reaction were also examined. The order of the factors in the reaction with respect to the effects on CODCr removal was temperature, dosage of H2O2,initial pH,dosage of FeSO4 and reaction time. The single-factor test was carried out to determine the optimal conditions, and the results were initial pH of 2,temperature of 40 ℃,reaction time of 30 min,H2O2 of 0.24 mol/L and FeSO4 of 10 mmol/L.Under the optimal conditions, the CODCr and berberine removal rates were 44.1% and 96.2%,respectively,and the BOD5/CODCr ratio increased from less than 0.05 to 0.3,which indicated that the biodegradability of the wastewater increased significantly.
