A New Exploration of the Concept of "Tourism"——Discussion with Professor Xie Yanjun and Zhang Lingyun

Tourism is the most fundamental concept in the discipline of tourism,the base and starting point of building the discipline of tourism.If this concept could not be defined scientifically,it would be impossible to form a complete system of this discipline.Therefore,the concept of tourism has always been a hot topic of discussion in tourism academic circle.But to date,no consensus has ever been reached.The paper,based on the studies of Professor Xie yanjun and Zhang Lingyun,tries to make a new exploration.The author holds the view that the relevant studies to two professors are fruitful,not only laying a foundation for the study of this concept,but also making it possible to solve the problem.However,there exist insufficiency and defects to some degree in their studies.The paper tries to redefine the concept of tourism and some problems are yet to be further discussed.The author offers his viewpoint thattourism is a kind of experience that people make use of their leisure time to achieve under unusual circumstances,a short way of life and living state.
