Effect of Xigui on the Gastrointestinal Function of Animals

Abstract
Objective:To study the effect of Xigui on the gastrointestinal function of animals.Methods:The methods of gastric emptying,intestinal propulsion and intestinal muscle in vitro were used to determine the influence of Xigui on the gastrointestinal motor function.Results:Xigui showed certain inhibition on the gastric emptying of mice,but had no significant difference when comparing with the normal group.Xigui also showed certain inhibition on the intestinal propulsion of the mice,with its effect increasing with the increase of dose.Xigui had an inhibitive effect on the isolated ileum muscle excitement of guinea pig,especially on the excitement induced by acetylcholine,histamine and barium chloride.Conclusion: Xigui has an inhibition on the gastrointestinal motor function of the animals.
