Abstract

Objective:To analyze the contribution of various diagnostic criteria of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) to the development of organ dysfunction.Methods:Multiple regression analysis was done between the SIRS score and organ dysfunction score.At the same time,the relationship between the days for developing SIRS according to different criteria and organ dysfunction was also analyzed.Results:Four criteria of diagnosis had different contribution to the occurrence of organ dysfunction,and they ranked in following order:respiratory rate,heart rate,temperature,and white cell counts.In severe burn patients,the days for developing SIRS according to different criteria were significantly associated with the occurrence of organ dysfunction.Meanwhile severe SIRS was responsible for organ dysfunction.Conclusions:Each diagnostic criterion of SIRS bears a different prognostic value in serious burn patients,and the duration and seriousness of SIRS have a direct relation to the occurrence of organ dysfunction.
