EFFECT OF PAROXETINE COMBINED WITH QUETIAPINE IN THE TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION WITH PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS

Abstract

Objective To study the effect of paroxetine combined with quetiapine in the treatment of depression with physical symptoms. Methods Sixty patients diagnosed as depression with physical symptoms via the criteria of CCMD-3 were randomly divided into two groups: those receiving paroxetine alone for 6 weeks as group Ⅰ and the rest receiving paroxetine combined with quetiapine for 6 weeks as group Ⅱ.Clinical efficacy and side effects were evaluated with HAMD and TESS. ResultsThe patients group Ⅱ got better outcome than those in group Ⅱ,the improvement rate was 93.3% vs 83.3%,the difference in HAMD score after treatment was significant(P0.001).But the difference in side effects between the two groups was not significant. Conclusion Paroxetine combined with quetiapine for depression with physical symptoms is an effective and safe therapy.
