Analysis of outbreaks of infectious disease in schools and Kindergartens in Shenzhen from 2012 to 2014

Objective To study epidemiological characteristics and regularity of outbreaks of infectious diseases in schools and Kindergartens in Shenzhen City, and provide the scientific evidence for the prevention and control of disease. Methods Descriptive epidemiology analysis was used to analyze the data of the infectious disease outbreaks in schools and kindergartens in Shenzhen City from 2012 to 2014. Results Respiratory infectious diseases were the major type of the school and Kindergartens infectious events, which accounted for 64.90%. The average duration of epidemic was 8.05 days, 90.07% of respiratory infectious diseases broke out at middle school and primary school, and 92.47% of intestinal tract infectious diseases broke out at Kindergartens. The peak period of outbreaks showed from March to June and December. Conclusion The Schools and Kindergartens are the main places of infectious disease outbreaks in Shenzhen city. Strengthening surveillance and Routine vaccination are important measures for the prevention and control of disease.
