Investigation of infectious disease outbreak and management in kindergartens in Futian District of Shenzhen City

Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of outbreaks of infectious diseases and related factors in public and private kindergartens so as to provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of infectious disease.Methods The reported outbreak data of infectious diseases of kindergartens in Futian District of Shenzhen City during 2005~2013 was statistically analyzed with descriptive epidemiological methods.Results There were 88 outbreaks of infectious diseases and 37 events occurred in public kindergarten of Futian District in Shenzhen from 2005 to 2013 with the attack rate of8.05%,another 51 outbreaks in private kindergarten with the attack rate of 10.05%,showing statistically significant difference(χ~2=8.44,P0.05).The majority of outbreaks were mainly category C infectious disease.The private kindergartens outbreak duration was longer than public kindergartens(t=-3.09,P0.05).The management of infectious disease in private kindergarten was also inferior to public kindergarten;especially in the health personnel allocation and the disinfection in the outbreak classes.Conclusion The management and prevention of infectious disease in private kindergarten were poorer than public kindergarten,investment and effective management measures be strengthened in private kindergarten.
