Abstract

The research progress of bis-quaternary ammonium salt as corrosion inhibitor is reviewed.Bis-quaternary ammonium salt is a new kind of cationic Gemini surfactant.Due to its low toxicity,good surface activity and good water solubility,it is a promising corrosion inhibitor.According to molecular structure,bis-quaternary ammonium salt is classified into three categories:symmetrical alkyl bis-quaternary ammonium salt,symmetrical heterocyclic bis-quaternary ammonium salt,and non-symmetrical bis-quarternary ammonium salt.The testing results of corrosion inhibition of such three categories are summarized.The research of bis-quaternary ammonium salt is not systematic,and future research will focus on environment-friendly bis-quaternary ammonium salt,inhibition mechanism and industrial applications.
