Investigation and Analysis on Failure in Reporting of Notifiable Diseases in Medical Agencies of Tai'an in 2004

Abstract

Objective This investigation was to help carry through and fulfill the Law on the Prevention and Cure of Infectious Diseases, strengthen supervision and management on reporting of notifiable diseases and ameliorate the reporting system of epidemic situation. Methods Spot-check was conducted concerning the reporting rate and quality of epidemic situation in 66 medical agencies within the precinct of Tai'an City. Results 6 types of notifiable diseases were investigated in a total of 4825 cases, of which 4767 cases were reported, with a reporting rate of 98.8% and failure-in-reporting rate of 1.2%; the reporting rate in medical agencies at provincial level, county level and township level was 99.2%, 99.6% and 96.9%, respectively. Conclusion Pivotal in the management of epidemic situation of infectious diseases are emphasis of leaders, definite responsibilities of managerial personnel, sound management system and cogent award and punishment approaches.
