Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effects of peritoneal dialysis for chronic renal failure of very old patients. Method? The changes of Hb, renal function and hepatic function of thirty - five patients were com-pared after peritoneal dialysis. Results Nutritional standards, such as serum albumin, prealbumin, Hb and potassium were decreased in great numbers of elderly patients. Abdominal cavity infection, cardiac failure, pneumonic infection, hypopotassium, skin and limb extremities and abdominal hernia are most complications caused by peritoneal dialysis. Gondusions Peritoneal dialysis is not especially suitable to elderly patients for continuous treatment. It is appropriate for elderly patients to choose most safe and effective method.
