Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation between accommodation and refractive error. Methods Forty-five students(90 eyes) were randomly chosen for the study.Refraction, accommodative amplitude, accommodative facility and positive relative accommodation tests were performed on the students. Results were analyzed with SPSS software. Results The value of accommodative amplitude was(8.49±1.61)D,the value of accommodative facility was(9.64±2.30)cycle/min,the value of related positive accommodation was(-2.19±0.84)D.The results showed that accommodative amplitude was significantly correlated to refractive error(r =-0.885,P ≤0.05).The results also showed that accommodative facility was not correlated to refractive error(r=0.132,P=0.215),but there was a correlation between positive relative accommodation and refractive error(r=-0.503,P≤0.05).Conclusion Refractive error is significantly correlated to accommodative amplitude and positive relative accommodation, but it is not correlated to accommodative facility.
