Abstract

Purpose To investigate the relationship between the expression of PTTG and clinical pathological characteristics in colorectal carcinoma. Methods PTTG expression was detected in 63 cases of colorectal carcinoma by immunohistochemical method, which included the tumor tissue, adjacent tissues 3 cm far from the carcinoma, and normal tissues 10 cm far from the carcinoma. Results The positive rate of PTTG expression was significantly higher in cancer than that in adjacent tissues and normal tissues(P0.01,P0.01,respectively).There was a significant difference in the PTTG expression at different age group, different pathological grade, different invasive depth, and whether or not accompanied by lymphatic metastasis(P0.05,P0.01,P0.05,P0.01,respectively).Conclusion PTTG play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of the colorectal carcinoma, and may be used as a useful marker in clinical evaluation of biological behavior of the tumor.
