Abstract

Objective To study the comparability of serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) results among different detection systems. Methods Three different kinds of biochemical detection systems were used to detect serum HDL-C and LDL-C concentrations in 2 levels of Randox quality controls and 40 sera according to EP9-A file. The collected data were deal with statistics analysis. Results Analysis of variance showed HDL-C and LDL-C results from patients sera had significant difference in different detection systems (P0.001). The correlation coefficient of each detection system were all above 0.975 for HDL-C and were 0.7859~0.9259 for LDL-C. The reliability coefficient of them was 0.9252 and 0.9477 respectively. Target system 1 was regarded as standard detection system and evaluated the acceptability of other detection systems. As a result, detection system 3 were accepted for HDL-C by clinic assessment, detection systems 2 did not accepted for HDL-C. Conclusions With 3 kinds of detection systems, The comparability of HDL-C results is of partly comoparability, but LDL-C results is not. If there are more than two systems for the same test, it is necessary to do method comparison and Bias estimation in order to insure the comparability.
