Abstract
Objective:To investigate the improvement of lower urinary tract symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia patients treated by Tamsulosin. Methods: One hundred and thirty-six patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who took Tamsulosin not less than 3 months were collected in the out patient department. They were treated with two different dosages randomly: group 1,Tamsulosin 0.2 mg,qd;group 2,Tamsulosin 0.2 mg,Bid.The changes of maximal urinary flow-rate,the volumes of residual urine and the grades of IPSS were retrospective analysed. Results: twenty six patients who could not accomplish the treatment were removed from the group, including fourteen in group 1,and twelve in group 2.The Qmax was significantly increased,IPSS and the volumes of residual urine was reduced respectively after 3 month's treatment. There are significant different between these two groups for the Qmax,IPSS and volumes of residual urine. No urinary retention was observed in both these two groups during administration. Conclusion: The lower urinary tract symptoms could be improvement by the treatment of Tamsulosin, thus it is an effective medicine in conservative therapy of benign prostatic hyperplasia.Using 0.4 mg/day is better than 0.2 mg/day.
