Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF and COX-2 with clinicobiological behavior in human glioma and explore their correlation as well. Methods The expression of VEGF and COX-2 in 56 cases of human glioma was detected with immunohistochemistry was by LSAB.Results(1)The normal expression Srate of VEGF and COX-2 was nearly in normal brain tissue.(2)In Ⅰ~Ⅱgrade and Ⅲ~Ⅳ grade of glioma, the expression rate of VEGF was 42.8% and 75% respectively;while the expression rate of COX-2 was 46.4% and 89.3%.There was significantly difference in the pathological grades of glioma and between the normal brain tissue and glioma; The expression of VEGF positively correlated to the expression of COX-2.Conclusion VEGF and COX-2 may play a synergistic role in prompting the angiogenesis and metastasis which contribute to the tumor genesis and progression in glioma.
