Abstract

Effects of Sodium Chorolide (NaCl) stress on seedling growth were studied on potted melon cv. Huanghemi and Baishami. The results showed that under NaCl stress, plant height and leaf area of melon seedlings, the fresh and dry weight of the aboveground parts were decreased, and the inhibitory effect depended on NaCl concentration and treating duration. The inhibition of NaCl stress on growth of Baishami seedlings was stronger than on Huanghemi seedlings. Melon seedlings showed acclimation and adaptability under NaCl stress of 0-100 mmol/L concentration. Melon can be one of the cash crops in saline soil production.
