Abstract
Objective To compare the diagnostic capability between MR imaging and ultrasonography for uterine adenomyosis. Methods Forty-five patients with uterine adenomyosis and 36 patients with uterine leiomyoma(as controls)confirmed by surgery and pathology underwent MR imaging with low field(0.23T),transabdominal ultrasonography(TAUS)and transvaginal ultrasonography(TVUS)before the operation. The diagnostic capability of above three modalities for uterine adenomyosis was compared each other. Results The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value(PPV),and negative predictive value(NPV)of MR imaging for uterine adeno-myosis were 95.56%,100%,97.53%,100%,and 97.74%,respectively;while those of TVUS were 80.0%,88.89%,83.95%,90.00%,and 78.05%,respectively;those of TAUS were 68.89%,83.33%,75.31%,83.78%,and 68.18%,respectively.Conclusion For the diagnosis of uter-ine adenomyosis,MR imaging is an optimal means of three modalities, while TVUS is superior to TAUS.
