Study of snack behaviors among college students in Hebei province

Abstract

Objective To understand the status and characteristics of snacks consumption behavior among college students in Hebei,and provide scientific basis for the guidance of university students healthy snacks consumption.Methods 481 college students randomly selected from the Hebei University were conducted with retrospective investigation on the situation of snack behaviors over the past week.Results College student's snacking phenomenon was very common,20.9% female students and 22.2% males had the snacking habits,and the female students were significantly higher than that of males(P0.01).62.3% students always or often snacked before going to bed and when they played compute.36.0% students 4 had snacks instead of dinner more than 4 times per week.61.8% students who chose snacks were most concerned about taste,food quality and safety accounted for 26.9%.Their most favorite snack was puffed food and cake,chocolate and cookie respectively.Conclusion Most college students have snack,but the snacking behavior is not reasonable enough.It is important to reinforce guidance and health education among college students about dietary nutrition so as to train them to build a scientific dietary habit.
