Expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and their significance

Objective:To investigate the expression of Survivin and Caspase 3 in transitional cell carcinoma(TCC)of bladder and their clinical significance.Methods:The expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 was detected by streptavidin-peroxidase immunohistochemical method in the paraffin embedded sections of 45 TCC patients with the clinical data analyzed.Normal bladder tissues from 10 health people were used as control group.Results:The positive rate of the expression of Survivin in TCC was 68.9%(31/45),while none of control group expressed Survivin.The positive rate of the expression of Caspase 3 in TCC was 37.8%(17/45).The expression of Survivin was related to the histological grades and recurrence but no significant difference was detected in different pathological stages,while the expression of Caspase-3 was significantly suppressed in recurrent cases.There was a negative relation between the expression of Survivin and Caspase 3 in TCC.Conclusions:The expression of Survivin in TCC was associated with the histological grades.The expression of Caspase 3 was suppressed in TCC.High expression of surviving and low expression of Caspase-3 indicate poor prognosis of BTCC.
