Abstract
Objective To explore whether aspirin(acetylsalicylic acid,ASA) could inhibit the growth of Hela cells of cervical cancer. Methods Hela cells were cultured in vivo and treated with ASA of different concentrations for 24 h to 96 h.The structures of cell were observed under light microscope with Giemsa stain. The cell proliferation inhibitory rates(CPIR) were tested by MTT method and the apoptosis ladder of DNA was evaluated by agarose gel electrophoresis. Results By Giemsa staining,Hela cells treated with aspirin were smaller and smaller, and apoptotic body also were observed.ASA inhibited Hela cell proliferation in a time and dose dependent manner. The apoptosis ladder of DNA was detected by DNA agarose gel electrophoresis after treated with aspirin of various concentrations for 48 hours.Aspirin could inhibit the proliferation of Hela cell among concentrations of 1.0~10.0 mmol/L.As the dose and time increasing, the inhibitory of aspirin on proliferation of Hela cell was significantly increased. Conclusions ASA could inhibit the proliferation of Hela cells in vivo, and the possible mechanism is inhibiting the DNA synthesis.
