Abstract

Objective To investigate the microsurgical technique and curative effect for the parasagittal meningioma patients with microsurgical treatment. Methods Retrospective analyzed the clinical data on 32 patients with parasagittal meningiomas who were treated in neurosurgery department of Xiangtan City Central Hospital from January 2005 to March 2011. Results The tumor was totally removed in surgical operation among thirty patients (93.8%), SimpsonⅠ,Ⅱand Ⅲgrade resection was achieved in 12 cases(37.5%), 18 cases (56.3%) and 2 cases (6.2%) of the 32 patients in this series respectively. The follow-up period ranged from 6 to 80 months. There was no postoperative death case and recurrent case. Conclusion Sufficient preoperative radiographic inspection, skilled microsurgical technique, efficient management of reducing operative bleeding, protection of the sagittal sinus and central suclus veins are the key factors to improve the operation total resection rate and curative effect in patients with parasagittal meningioma.
