Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of Angelicae Sinensis decoction for supplementing blood(AS)in enhancing the efficacy of chemotherapy and against its side-effect in mice loaded with S180 murine sarcoma cells. Methods The mice inoculated with S180 murine sarcoma cells were divided into 5 groups:S180 control group,0.02 g·kg-1·d-1 cyclophosphamide(CTX)group,AS(24,12,6 g·kg-1·d-1 as high, moderate and low dose)+CTX groups. After 10-day treatment, the tumor inhibition rate, the counting of peripheral blood cells and bone marrow karyocytes, the weight of spleen and thymus were calculated, and the liver and renal function and immunoglobulin(Ig)were evaluated. Results The tumor inhibition rate was higher in each AS+CTX group than that in the S180 control group(P0.01).The tumor inhibition rate of high-dose AS+CTX group was higher than CTX group(P0.05).The indexes of spleen and thymus as well as the levels of IgG and IgM in CTX group were lower than those of S180 control group and high-and moderate-dose AS+CTX groups(P0.05 or P0.01).ALT level was higher and WBC,PLT and BMC were lower in CTX group than those in S180 control group and high-and moderate-dose AS+CTX groups(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion AS can enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy and reduce its side-effect in the mice with S180 murine sarcoma cells exposed to CTX.
