Critical Discourse Analysis of Distorted News about China from Western Press

Abstract

The present article offers a brief study of the theoretical principles and methodologies of critical discourse analysis(CDA),with an attempt to conduct a discourse analysis of distorted news about China from western press within the three-dimensional framework of CDA proposed by Norman Fairclough.By this,the article concludes that CDA can contribute to our understanding of the ideologies hidden in the news,by which reveals the discourse/ideology nexus and raises readers' critical language awareness.
