Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of methylphenidate in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) by detecting exploratory eye movements(EEM).Methods Thirty-two children with ADHD(treatment group) were treated for oral use methylphenidate,30 healthy children were selected as healthy control gyoup,EEM of children in both groups were detected. The differences of the numbers of eye fixations(NEF)and responsive search score(RSS) between the 2 groups were compared using SPSS 13.0 software. Results The NEF was(26.59±3.83)and RSS score was(5.97±1.59)in treatment group after treatment, which were significantly higher than those before treatment(23.77±5.29,5.03±1.80)(Pa0.05) and significantly lower than those in healthy control group(28.40±2.58,7.83±1.91)(P0.05,0.01).Conclusion Methylphenidate may improve the attention and inhibition executive functions of loop of forehead-striatum in children with ADHD.
