Protective Effects of Irbesartan on Diabetic Nephropathy in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats

Abstract

【Objective】To investigate the protective effects of irbesartan and spironolactone on the kidney in streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetic rats.【Methods】Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:sham operation group,diabetic model group,irbesartan-treated group and spironolactone-treated group.Diabetes was induced by a single injection of STZ in rats.The biochemical methods were used to measure the contents of BG,Cr,BUN,U-GLU and Ccr.【Results】Modeling after the success,through the biochemical indicators result comparison,irbesartan-treated group has protection on STZ diabetic rats kidney function compared with other groups,biochemical indexes mean difference is statistically significant(P0.05),pathology examination and electron microscopy examination results are obvious curative effect.【Conclusion】Compared to the diabetic model group,irbesartan has protective effects on kidneys injure of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
