Abstract

Objective To develop the rehabilitation therapy programs through observing the effectiveness of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation(PNF) technique combined with Chinese herb braising therapy and routine rehabilitation therapy for the dysfunction of knee joint after surgery. Methods Sixty-nine patients with simple knee joint fracture were randomly divided into treatment group(n=37,with PNF technique combined with Chinese herb braising therapy and routine rehabilitation therapy) and control group(n=32,with Chinese herb braising therapy and routine rehabilitation therapy only) after surgery. The assessments were done before and after treatment by active range of motion(AROM),visual analog scale(VAS) and Holden walking function classification. Results There was a significant improvement both in treatment group and control group after treatment(P0.05,0.01),and there was significant difference between the treatment group and control group(P0.05,0.01).Conclusion The PNF technique combined with Chinese herb braising therapy was superior to the routine rehabilitation therapy in the functional recovery of knee joint facture patients.
