Abstract

We demonstrate and analyze the characteristics of storm-flood in Yangtze River Basin in the flood season of 2010 comprehensively, which is beneficial for improving quantitative index system of basin-wide flood and can strengthen foresee ability and precision of flood forecast. The storm-flood in mainstream and tributaries of upper Yangtze River Basin,Hanjiang River and its tributaries and Dongting and Poyang lakes in the flood season is analyzed systemically and summarized preliminarily from the aspects of hydrological situation, characteristics, formation causes. It is shown that the flood of Yangtze River in the flood season of 2010 has the characteristics of broad extent, long duration and large magnitude in local regions.Comparing with the large flood in the history before and after the impoundment of Three Gorges Reservoir,we concluded that the flood of Yangtze River in flood season of 2010 is a relatively large regional flood in upper and middle Yangtze River.
