Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of telomerase in cervical carcinoma and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and the role during the development of cervical carcinoma. Methods The expression of telomerase in 30 cases of invasive cervical carcinoma(ICC),90 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN),and 10 cases of normal cervices were detected by immunohistochemical technique.90 cases of CIN were divided into 3 groups:CINⅠ、CINⅡ and CINⅢ,each of them containing 30 cases. Results The positive rates of telomerase in normal cervices,CINI,CINⅡ,CIN Ⅲ and invasive cervical carcinoma were 30.0%、40.0%、43.3%、70.0%,93.3% respectively. The positive rate of telomerase in ICC was significantly higher than that of CINⅢ(P0.05).And those in CINⅢ was significantly higher than that of CINⅡ(P0.05),but there were of no significant difference in CINⅡ and CINⅠ、CINⅠ and normal cervical tissues(P0.05).Conclusion There is a close relationship between high expression of telomerase and development of cervical carcinoma.Telomerase may be a valuable indicater of the prognosis for premalignant cervical lesion.
