Abstract
To investigate the important role of cigarette paper on reducing tar and harmful components of cigarette smoke,the effects of cigarette paper properties,such as potassium additives,permeability and basis weight,on the contents of seven harmful components in mainstream of cigarette smoke were investigated. The results showed that increasing of potassium additives in cigarette paper played prominent role on reducing contents of CO,phenol,HCN,NH3,NNK,and B[α]P in cigarette smoke,while the content of crotonaldehyde changed little. With the increasing of cigarette paper permeability,the contents of CO,phenol,B[α]P,NH3and NNK in cigarette smoke decreased significantly,while the contents of HCN and crotonaldehyde changed little. With the increasing of the basis weight of cigarette paper,the contents of CO,HCN,NNK,B[α]P and crotonaldehyde in cigarette smoke firstly increased and then decreased. Effects of cigarette paper properties,such as potassium additives,permeability and basis weight,on the contents of seven harmful components in mainstream of cigarette smoke were obtained by controlling the combustion of cigarette.
