The clinical value of high frequency ultrasonography in inguinal hernia

Objective The purpose of the present study was to discuss the clinical value of high frequency ultrasonography in inguinal hernia.Methods 108 patients with masses at inguinal region or in scrotum were involved in the study.The patients were scanned with ultrasonography at inguinal region in standing position or/and in supine position with or without breath holding.The shapes,sizes,structures and the changes with the posture and respiratory movement of the mass were observed and compared with the surgical results.Results Of the 108 patients,101,3,2,1 and 1 cases were diagnosesed as inguinal hernia,communicating hydrocele,hydrocele of the spermatic cord,cryptorchidism and testicular torsion.The diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonography is 99%.Conclusion It is effective to diagnosis inguinal hernia with high frequency ultrasonography.
