Abstract

Objective To investigate the ultrasonography features and clinical value of indirect inguinal hernia by high frequency color Doppler ultrasonography. Methods twenty-five cases of indirect inguinal hernia were compared with the results of operations and pathology. Results Hernia sac can be displayed in inguinal region, the upper part is extend to abdominal cavity and the end is smooth. Intestine show diffent hyperechoic with abundant flow; Epiploon is spot hyperechoic with a little flow. Color flow is changed in incarcerated hernia. The inferior epigastric artery is posterior to the hernia sac and is medial to the neck of hernia sac.Spermatic cord is posterior to the hernia sac. Conclusion The characteristic of contents in indirect inguinal hernia can be displayed by high frequency color Doppler ultrasonography. Color flow has some relation to incarcerated hemia, and is valuable for judging the damage of internal contents in clinical diagnosis.
