Abstract
In this paper, triethyl citrate was synthesized through novel water-tolerant Zr(SO4)2·4H2O/ AC solid acid catalyst. The effect of factors on the yield was discussed. The optimum synthesis conditions were as follow:w(Zr(SO4)2·4H2O/ AC)=30%,calcined at 110 ℃ for 2 h,w(catalyst/citric acid)=4%,5∶1 citric acid to ethanol (molar ratio),reacted at 100 ℃ for 5 h. The yield of esterification can reach 97.6%. After reused for 4 times, the yield of esterification still reach over 93 %. Moreover, the environmental catalyst was separated easily from product.
