The Phenomenon of Rural Urbanization in Tat Lake Valley during the Song Dynasty

With the prosperity of social economy and the development of cities and towns in Tat Lake valley during the Song Dynasty, there appeared the rural urbanization. The cities thrived unprecedentedly, and initiated the development of rural commodity economy and the urbanization of suburbs. Many market-towns which showed the characteristic of urbanization gradually sprang up in rural area. The rural market developed rapidly. UP to the Southern Song Dynasty, the rate of the rural urbanization in Tat Lake valley had reached ten percent.
