Abstract

Historians generally consider that the old scholars south of the Yangtze had declined by Tang Dynasty.However,the fact was that it was only a general trend.Some with higher positions,with their superior family education and rich tradition,adapted themselves to the change from the hereditary to the examination system and became high officials in Tang Dynasty.They mostly came from families of the old scholar officials of the Six Dynasties.It indicated that the influence and function of the area south of the Yangtze came from the old scholar officials of the Six Dynasties,not as new families in Tang Dynasty.After Tang Dynasty,scholar officials of the area raised and strengthened their positions even the more.
