Abstract
Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of myeloperoxidase(MPO) plasma levels for prognosis in patients with unstable angina pectoris(UA).Methods: There were 52 patients with chronic stable angina(the SAP group) and 75 patients with unstable angina. The UA patients were divided into two groups according to their in-hospital prognoses: the stable UA group(n=50) and the refractory UA group(n=25).Blood samples were taken from the artery in all patients. The concentrations of MPO were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).Results: Median plasma MPO level in the refractory UA(58.34±8.36 U/ml) was significantly higher than those in stable UA group group(32.59±6.32 U/ml) and in the SAP group(17.21±3.61 U/ml)(P0.01).Conclusions: The level of MPO may play an important prognostic role in the in-hospital course of patients with UA.
