Abstract
Objectives:To investigate the diagnostic and prognostic value of serum MMP 2 and CRP level in unstable angina (UA). Methods:Serum MMP 2 and CRP were determined quantitatively in 46 patients with UA, 25 patients with stable angina (SA) and 22 healthy persons by ELISA method. Results:The serum MMP 2 levels, that was significantly higher in UA groupthan that in SA group and control group, were (470.8±51.4)ng/ml, (329.6±54.0)ng/ml and (246.5±26.8)ng/ml, respectively( P 0.01). The serum CRP levels, that was also significantly higher in UA group than that in SA group and control group, were(3.6±0.4)μg/ml, ( 0.9 ±0.1)μg/ml and (0.7±0.1)μg/ml, respectively( P 0.01). After the patients' condition were stable, the serum MMP 2 and CRP level in UA group decreased significantly from (351.4± 41.8 )ng/ml to (0.9±0.3)μg/ml( P 0.01). There were seven patients who developed acute coronary events (ACE) in UA group. The serum MMP 2 and CRP level on admission in ACE group were significantly higher than that in UA group which were (503.7±30.3)ng/ml and ( 4.1 ±0.3)μg/ml, respectively( P 0.05). Conclusion: Serum MMP 2 and CRP level might be valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of UA.
