Abstract
[Objective]To know the current smoking status of health workers,to understand their knowledge, attitude and practice about tobacco control, then to apply interventions so as to enhance their awareness of tobacco control.[Methods]Stratified random sampling method was adopted to select 1031 health workers for investigation.Six months comprehensive intervention was performed for all subjects.[Results]The overall smoking rate was 21.4%.The smoking rate of male was 45.3%,significantly higher than that of females(0.5%).The smoking rate was significantly different between male workers in different positions(P0.05).As to knowledge, most of health workers knew the relationship between lung diseases and smoking and passive smoking, but less than 50% knew the relationship between osteoporosis, male sexual dysfunction and smoking, only 25.2% knew the relationship between sudden infant death syndrome and passive smoking. As to practice, only 6 people(1.5%) knew about smoking cessation drugs and had ever tried it.Through the comprehensive intervention, the smoking rate in male declined significantly(P0.05),Doctors use smoking cessation drugs without significant difference(P0.05).[Conclusion]Male health workers have a comparatively high smoking rate with inadequate awareness of hazards of tobacco use and weak awareness of tobacco control.Hospitals should carry out creation of smokeless medical institutions activities in-depth.The comprehensive tobacco control is effective for changing the health workers' smoking behavior and enhancing their responsibility consciousness.
