Roles of SDF-1/CXCR4 in adult stem cell migration

Abstract

Stromal cell derived factor-1(SDF-1)is a potent chemoattractant for stem/progenitor cells,which can activate the CXCR4 receptor expressed in a variety of stem/progenitor cells,and this signaling results in diverse biological effects.SDF-1/CXCR4 axis plays an important role in stem/progenitor cell chemotaxis and homing in bone marrow and damaged tissues.This review summarized the roles of SDF-1/CXCR4 in adult stem cell migration.
