Abstract
Objective: To explore the responce and safety of the lidomide combined with dexamethasone in the treatment of multiple myeloma. Methods: From January 2003 to January 2006,40 patients were randomized into the study group for which thalidomide and dexamethasone were administered, and control group for which thalidomide alone was given. Results: The overall response rate was 85% for the study group which was significantly higher than the 55% in the control group. The improvement of other parameters such as blood nutine, sedimentation rate, serum calcium and M protein were more significant for the study group. The dverse effects were minimal. Conclusion: The combined thalidomide and dexamethasone treatment offered good therapeutic effects for multiple myeloma, with slight toxicities.
