In the 20th century China was in a stormy times, when tragedies were breeding in the real life and literary works. With her tragedy works and style in ancient and modern China, ZHANG Ai-ling stands out the literature garden. ZHANG Ai-ling's tragedy creation not only is inheritance of Chinese tradition,but also is transcendence of both the May 4 New Literature tragedy. Meanwhile, ZHANG Ai-ling's unique tragic creation made certain contribution to the worldwide expansion of modern tragedy connotation.
